Isle of Lewis Theme Magnetic Chess Set Folding 12" Blood Wood/Maple

This is the first time the Isle of Lewis Chess set (replica) has been manufactured in wood and that too magnetic packed in folding travel chess box having chess board on the top of the box.
This master piece of art on wood is genuine replica of the world's most well-known Isle of Lewis chess pieces on display in the British Museum. The pieces were discovered on the Isle of Lewis (Scandinavian origin) around 1170.
The reproduction of Lewis chess pieces on wood has been done by latest laser technology and all the Lewis chess pieces have been carved by laser and this is the closest replica of ancient Lewis chess pieces available today.The front and the back of Lewis chess pieces have been carved with great precision there is no any kind of variation in the shape / design.
The Isle of Lewis Chessmen has been made in the wood combinations of Blood Wood / Boxwood. The dark side of Lewis chess set has been laser engraved on Blood wood and mounted on the bases of Blood Wood and light side Lewis chess pieces on boxwood and mounted on the bases of boxwood.
High powered magnets have been inserted inside the bases of the Lewis chess set and velvet felt has been applied on bases of all the chess pieces.
Special EP Foam inserts have been fitted inside the box and each Lewis chess piece fits into its own space which has been created according to the shape of the piece which gives extra protection to the piece from all the sides.

History of Chessmen
Isle of Lewis Chessmen pieces are very unusual, rare ones found on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland in early 1800's but believed to be carved in Walrus Tusk circa 1280 in Norway or Iceland. These Romanesque (relating to style prevailing in Europe c. 900-1220) visage being the only of its kind in the history of medieval Art. There seem to be no other chess pieces compared with these forceful and expressive faces of humans.
